Osumi is the Southeast peninsula. It is a mild climate and abundant nature. There are many scenic spots like Cape sata, the Uchinoura Rocket Launch Center, and other cultural locations.

Kihoku Uwaba Park

360 panoramic view of Mt. Sakurajima on the West, Kirishima mountains on the North, and the bay on the East. There are many attractions like grass sky zone, athletic field, and camping sites in the park. Kihoku Astronomical Observation is also located inn the park.

Seasonal flowers bloom all the year around. Pink colored azarea flowers in Spring, cosmos flowers in Autumn.

Sarugajyo Ravine

One of the popular chmping and swimming spots in Kagoshima. During the Summer from July to August, many outdoor lovers come for camping.


Kanoya

Kanoya Air Base Museum

Historical museum of Japanese Self-Defence Army Air located in the Kanoya Base.

Kirishimagaoka Park

The park located on the hill south-west of Kanoya City. Seasonal flowers bloom throughout a year, especially the park is famous for rose garden with about 1300 kinds 15000 of roses from around the world. Every year, rose festivals are held in Spring and Autumn.

Uchinoura

Kagoshima Space Observation

Only Space observation centers in Japan are situated in Kagoshima: Tanegashima and Uchinoura. At the observation, observation for the earth and space are held, and many rockets and satelites have been launched. You can visit.

Sata


Cape Sata

Sata cape is the most southern tip of Japan main land. Sata observatory is on the tip of the cape. From the observatory, you can view the Japanese oldest light house by British designer, and sometimes Tanegashima and Yakushima.
