We had fine weather on the day of the event and over 3,000 people had gathered for the Ume Jogging Marathon. The International Exchange Booth was lively throughout the day with many people stopping by to say hello.
The Hioki City Hall Planning Division sponsored booth where two Hioki City CIRs (from South Korea and Malaysia) prepared hot tea, games, ethnic costumes, etc. Many of the locals knew the CIRs from school visits and other events, so they came by to chat or play a game. The prefectural CIRs also brought along a number of materials to introduce their countries, including panel boards, books, games, and videos.
Jenga, a game manufactured in the United States, was very popular with the children. Furthermore, Kennard met with some high school students who would visit Singapore two days later. It was a great opportunity to work with the Hioki City CIRs and to introduce foreign cultures to many people in Hioki.

Jenga is a big hit. The kids challenge Rachel to a game.
Kennard talks with high school students preparing to visit Singapore.
